I don't think privacy is something you should have to earn or justify. It's the baseline. Here's what I believe, and the concrete thing I do about it.
Tor keeps millions of people private by bouncing their traffic through a web of volunteer-run nodes, so no single hop ever knows both who you are and where you're going. That network only exists because people donate the relays. I run some of them.
